Men's Basketball
In 1991 the EMU basketball team won the MAC regular season title and the MAC tournament title. The team would go on to the NCAA Tournament as a 12 seed. There first round game was against the 5 seed Mississippi State Bulldogs. EMU won 76-56. In the round of 32 Eastern played 13 seed Penn State who had just upset the UCLA Bruins. EMU came out on top with a 71-68 win. Moving on to the sweet 16 EMU had to play the top seeded Tar Heels of North Carolina, falling 67-93.

In 1996 EMU's basketball went to the NCAA tournament as a 9 seed and had to play the 8 seeded Duke Blue Devils. Eastern Michigan pulled off the upset winning 75-60. The next round EMU lost to #1 UConn 81-95.
