EMU started the MAC tournament against Northern Illinois. The first round game EMU got to host, and the winner would go to Cleveland to play the rest of the tournament. EMU was able to get a close 1 point win over Northern Illinois.
Once again it wasn't a very high scoring game for the Eagles, but if you can get the win it doesn't matter the score. A 45-44 win was just enough to move on to the second round. EMU will play Miami in the next round as they upset the 6 seed Bowling Green.
A big positive coming out of this game was EMU was only in single digits for turnovers. Only 9 turnovers this game which is huge for EMU going into Cleveland. It's good that EMU will go to the Tournament with some momentum.
Da'Shonte Riley was a hug part in this game for Eastern Michigan. Riley played most of the game, and ended up with 13 points, going 5/5 from the field and 3/7 from the free throw line. He was huge under the basket having 4 blocks, and getting 11 of the EMU 29 rebounds.
Bryant also had a good game with 10 points, not far behind was Thompson with 8 points. Sims had 7 and Ross had 5. Bryant also helped out under the hoop with 8 rebounds in this game.
As a team EMU shot the ball 44% from the field, and 36% from behind the arc. Eagles had 7 blocks and 2 steals, and only 9 turnovers.
Now Eastern Michigan will take the trip to Cleveland Ohio to play the 11 seeded Miami Redhawks. The game is March 13th at 9PM. The winner will move on to play Western Michigan.
