Eagles Comeback Not Enough to Beat CMU

      VS.

A slow start for Eastern Michigan ends in a big comeback, but the Eagles still fall short by 2, to Central Michigan. An EMU win would have given the Eagles the Michigan MAC trophy, but CMU pulls out the win 61-59. Eastern will go to 7-8 in the MAC, and 14-16 overall.

Eastern was down by as much as 15 in this game and it wasn't looking good. At halftime CMU led 33-24. EMU came into the 2nd half with a little more intensity and managed to make a big comeback and took the lead at one point in the game.

Eastern had problems keeping a lead as both team went back and forth at each other late in the game. EMU had about 19 seconds to score but were unable to after turning the ball over out of bounds, which ended the game.

Late in the season EMU has done a decent job at not turning the ball over as much. EMU average about 19 turnovers a game. In this game EMU had only 11, and the past few games were similar. The Eagles have staying in a lot of games thanks to not turning it over as much. EMU beat WMU in overtime, and almost came out with a win over CMU.

Thompson led the Eagles with 14 points, and 4 three pointers. Not to far behind was Bryant with 13, and Harrison with 12. Harris also had a impressive game with 9 points. Bryant had 7 rebounds, Harrison and Riley both had 5 rebounds.

As a team EMU out rebounded CMU 31-24. EMU shot 46% overall, and 37% from 3 point range. Eastern Michigan had 6 three pointers all were scored by Bryant and Harrison. The Eagles really struggled from the free throw line going 3 for 7 from the line.

EMU will head back home to end the season. They will play Toledo on saturday. After that we go to the MAC tournament where hopefully the Eagles can have a strong showing.
